The Road Map to a Dead End

On June 24, 2002 President Bush announced a drastic and surprising departure in American Middle East foreign policy. That new policy reverberated throughout the Middle East, and especially in Israel like an earthquake. For the first time ever, an American President expressed strong support for Palestinian Statehood.

President Bush: (06-24-02) A "Palestinian State will never be created by terror." “The United States would support the creation of an independent Palestinian state if the Palestinian people elect new leaders, leaders not compromised by terror!" Yet, the peace roadmap is gathering steam while nothing has been done on the Palestinian side about terror, nor about sidelining Mr. Terrorist—Yasser Arafat!

The eventual Antichrist will seemingly resolve the ages old Israeli-Arab Conflict by dividing the land. This peace process will be accomplished through the “partioning of the Land” peace-craftmanship implemented by the UN in 1947. (See Joel 3:2) Daniel 11:39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.

The President said; “For too long, the citizens of the Middle East have lived in the midst of death and fear. The hatred of a few holds the hopes of many hostage. The forces of extremism and terror are attempting to kill progress and peace by killing the innocent. And this casts a dark shadow over an entire region. For the sake of all humanity, things must change in the Middle East. It is untenable for Israeli citizens to live in terror. It is untenable for Palestinians to live in squalor and occupation. (you'll note that even President Bush has conceded the debate about occupation vs. disputed territory) And the current situation offers no prospect that life will improve. My vision is two states, living side by side in peace and security. There is simply no way to achieve that peace until all parties fight terror. Yet, at this critical moment, if all parties will break with the past and set out on a new path, we can overcome the darkness with the light of hope. Peace requires a new and different Palestinian leadership, so that a Palestinian State can be born. I call on the Palestinian people to elect new leaders, leaders not compromised by terror. I call upon them to build a practicing democracy, based on tolerance and liberty. If the Palestinian people actively pursue these goals, America and the world will actively support their efforts. ”Israel also has a large stake in the success of a democratic Palestine. Permanent occupation threatens Israel's identity and democracy. A stable, peaceful Palestinian state is necessary to achieve the security that Israel longs for. So I challenge Israel to take concrete steps to support the emergence of a viable, credible Palestinian State.

So basically, President Bush established a new American foreign policy in the arena of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. It is a foreign policy that will once again, like the Oslo Process, like the oil embargo's of 75, like the Shah and Iran in 79, like Beirut in 82, and like NYC on September 11th, 2001 will place the United States squarely in the conspicuous gun-sights of international terrorism, and in direct opposition to Jehovah's covenant with Israel. It is a Divine providential dynamic of Biblical proportion that God will bless those nations that bless Israel and withold his hedge of protection from those nations that curse Israel, and its land Covenant. This time however, America has gone on record as describing Israel as being an “occupying force” on land that is not theirs. Furthermore, the President has compounded that lie by promising the Palestinian perpetrators of terrorism a viable political State on land that God has providentially granted to Jacob. In a pragmatic effort to alleviate and abate the potentiality of confronting an overwhelming number of forces that are in essence included among the many members of the Axis of Evil, the new American involvement in the peace roadmap seeks to avert a clash of civilizations at the expense of Israel. On June 24, 2002, the United States told the Palestinians: If you want a state, we will get you one. But you won't get there with Arafat. He is the one who has led you into a wilderness of blood and with whom we cannot deal because he will never make peace. The reason is not complicated: The US and President Bush knows that as long as Yasser Arafat wields power, there can be no prospects for peace between Israel and the Palestinians. At Camp David 2000, the most dovish Israeli government in history presented Arafat with the most generous offer the Palestinians have gotten from anyone -- a Palestinian state on 97 percent of the West Bank, with its capital in a shared Jerusalem. Arafat, intent on getting land without peace, and upon destroying all of Israel responded by starting a new bloodbath of terror! That bloodbath is referred to by the Palestinians as the second intifada. The intifada symbolizes the fact that terrorism is the preferred tool of negotiation by Arafat. However, his second in command, Abu Mazen has spoken out against the intifada and called it a historical mistake. Is he sincere, or is he just exercising diplomatic schemes? On April 30, Abu Mazen was sworn in as the new PA Prime Minister by the Palestinian Legislative Council, after being appointed by Yasser Arafat, simply to placate the Bush Administration's request for new leadership on the PLO side. The United States and its peace partners (Quartet) then publicly released the "peace road map" to Palestinian statehood, to be accomplished by 2005. Mazen took office on April 29, 2003. Less than a day later, the Bush Administration unveiled its Road Map plan, which set forth conditions that the Palestinian Arabs must fulfill prior to the creation of a Palestinian Arab state. The Road Map stipulates that the Arabs must undertake a series of concrete steps to combat terrorist groups and democratize Arab society. America, President Bush and Israel hope that the Palestinian Prime Minister, Mahmoud Abbas, will fight against Palestinian terrorism. That hope is wishful thinking, as the recent terrorist attacks committed by Palestinians are all legitimate according to the Abbas Doctrine. Prime Minister Abbas has outlined his views regarding terror and violence in recent interviews, and his principles allow for the following:

1. The use of arms against Israeli civilians within Israel should be stopped for a year due to its current ineffectiveness.

2. The use of arms against Israeli civilians within the Disputed Territories should continue. Mahmoud Abbas has many other problematic opinions that make many question his prospects as peace partner with Israel:

1- His demand for the settlement within Israel of millions of Arabs from refugee camps. Settling of these Arabs in Israel would destroy Israel as a Jewish state.

2 - His doctoral thesis on the Holocaust was an attempt to deny that 6,000,000 Jews were killed along with the standard Holocaust denial accusations that the Zionist movement created the numbers for profit.

On the subject of the Intifada and the attacks against Israelis in the Disputed Territories: Abbas says: "The Intifada must continue, along with the right of the Palestinian people to rise up and use whatever it can to protect its existence and being. In his very first speech as Prime Minister of the PA, on April 28, 2003, Abu Mazen demanded that Israel release all terrorists. (how is that for fighting terror) The statement alone by the new Palestinian Authority Prime Minister demanding that Israel release all imprisoned Arab terrorists shows that he is not serious about fighting terrorism, and is only engaged in a clever scheme to continue the PLO-Arafat conspiracy to destroy Israel altogether. None of these conditions President Bush spelled out in his new “2-State Solution” have been fulfilled, yet the Quartet, along with the US is moving ahead with implementation of the Peace Roadmap, and with the stipulation that Israel “accept” the roadmap without any conditions. The Roadmap is nothing but a highway to more trouble for Israel!

During the decade of the Oslo trojan horse peace process, Arafat had set up seven "security organizations" -- private militias and secret police under his command. They were supposed to be transferred to Abu Mazen's control. They have not been. Arafat still controls five of the seven, including Force 17, which is actively involved in terrorism. Arafat controls more than guns, he also controls the pocketbook in the PA. He gives the orders to pull the trigger almost everytime there is a suicide bombing in Israel. The Bush administration can pretend that none of this exists, and that Abu Mazen is intent on democracy in the West Bank, but we can't pretend that Yasser Arafat has retired, while he is still the PLO negotiator-in-chief of the Roadmap! The present roadmap is a precise repetition of the disaster of the Oslo "peace process," in which the United States willfully and repeatedly ignored the realities on the ground, namely that of Arafat's corruption, and his constant incitement and support of terrorism! The only way peace will be possible is if the Bush Administration sticks to the June 24 principle that Arafat must go, and that means freezing the road map until he is permanently gone. This is a strategic decision that America and Israel must make. The diplomatic shunning of Mr. Arafat by the Bush Administration contrasted to the Clinton tactical style of treating Arafat like a celebrated statesman helped bring about the shear idea of a PA Prime Minister. To stop short of arresting or expelling Arafat is to reward the Palestinian terror machines and give them the logistics to disrupt any real governmental reforms and thus to blow the roadmap to pieces. By coercing Israel into formal acceptance of the plan while Arafat and company continue the terror game, will do nothing but make America the object of more Arab-Islamic hatred!

And maybe, just maybe that is precisely what our “road map partners', the Europeans, the Russians, and the UN really want! The UN, EU, Russia and China are all on record lambasting American supremacy in the world, and adamant that America's status as the lone ranger superpower in the world must come to an end. On May 20, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Saltanov stated that Yasser Arafat still has "political weight" and cannot be sidelined from efforts to reach peace in the Middle East. Saltanov, who is responsible for Mid-east affairs for Russia said that calls for Arafat to be isolated or removed were unacceptable because the Palestinian leader enjoyed democratic legitimacy. "He is a leader who was elected by the Palestinian people. This means that he remains a politician exerting influence on the settlement process. And only the Palestinian people (not America or President Bush) can decide who should lead them."

The European Union has constantly scolded Israel for balking at formally accepting the Mid-east "roadmap" to peace and dismissed decisions by the American and Israeli governments to cold-shoulder foreign dignitaries who meet with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. The EU continues to see Arafat as a key player in Mid-east peacemaking. The EU formally announced that the EU will continue to involve Arafat in the search for peace. An EU spokesman declared, "Yasser Arafat remains an elected representative of his people and our position on this issue is unchanging. One must wonder why Yasser Arafat has so much support in Europe. It is blatantly obvious that there is more to the Arafat-EU-UN-Vatican relationship than discussions about the Mid-east peace process. It is the contention of FOJ that Arafat is being utilized by powers in the EU-Vatican-Quartet to quell the potential for Israel to retain very much of the Promised Land. It cannot be dismissed as a mere after thought that both the UN and the Vatican have mandated that Jerusalem be witheld from both Israel and Palestine. Alas, the EU also is requiring that Israel cannot have any outstanding border disputes if it desires to be admitted membership into the EU. In fact the EU-UN-Russia have exerted so much force within the Quartet that the Roadmap is being rammed through the UN Security Council as a mandatory resolution. Underlying the EU initiative behind the UN Security “peace roadmap resolution” is a conspiracy to curtail American domination over Middle East political processes. The Middle East peace process situation has changed from what it was before the Iraq conflict; and during the Clinton Administration, because now the UN, the EU, Russia and the other Security Council members have taken a position to stand up to American hegemony. This scenario is just part of the political fallout from the France-Russian led opposition to the war in Iraq. The new “roadmap” was formulated with American participation by the UN, EU and Russia. The three other components of the Quartet are aggressively seeking to supplant America, and more precisely the Bush Administration from the dominant peace-making role in the Middle East, and therefore to isolate Israel's one bastion of diplomatic support! The EU, France and Russia hope by pushing a mandate through the UN, to use the roadmap as leverage against the US initiative in Iraq, and cause America to endure a quagmire of dynamic proportions in Iraq as it attempts to stabilize a democracy-friendly infrastructure there. Winning the war in Iraq, without winning any changes in Syria and in the PA may, in the long run prove to be America's waterloo! The Quartet's Peace Roadmap is fraught with dire consequences for two nations, Israel and the United States!

Personally, Vice President Cheney may have been absolutely right when he said, "The only way for America to deal with the threat of terrorism ultimately is to destroy it.” There's no treaty that can solve the Israeli-Palestinian problem as long as terrorists are allowed a place. There's no peace agreement, no policy of containment or deterrence that works to deal with this type of threat. We have to go find the terrorists, and destroy them. Now, why is it that the world witholds this same right to Israel, (and complains about America's go-it-alone tactics/pre-emptive Doctrine in the War on Evil) without pressing them for restraint, and negotiating concessions. If there can be no "road map" for peace with Al Qaeda in Saudi Arabia, or with Saddam Hussein in Iraq, why must America support one for the Palestinian Authority in Israel's historical and Biblical heartland of Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem, a land where which has been deeded to Israel by God almighty?

The hate-filled Hamas-PLO-Islamic Jihadists are openly burning American flags in the disputed territories. That's their way of showing gratitude for all the U.S.'s negotiations to get them a state! And it is all too obvious that such a state would be a catastrophe not only for Israel, but for America too! Israel is the lone bastion of democracy and freedom in the entire Middle East. The poor enslaved Palestinian people have corrupt uncaring leadership whose only desire is to totally rid the Middle East of Israel, and emerge out from under prevailing geo-political influence of the United States of America.

Behind each plan assembled by diplomats, politicians and dictators one can usually find a hidden agenda. In the case of the "Road Map", one may look for several hidden agendas. The US will feel the claimed humiliation of the Muslims in losing a war to the Christian West, and therefore something of a compensatory nature will have to be offered to the Arab world. This compensation is already built into the Bush/Quartet "Road Map: by the re-partitioning of Israel and more - much more. Lurking somewhere in the shadows beyond the roadmap is the agenda of the Antichrist. The Antichrist and his cohorts (10 kings-Global Governance) are waiting in the wings. The roadmap will probably take many side-roads and detours before there can be a successfully implemented peace/security arrangement between Israel and Palestine, and I believe that those detours hold significant consequences for America. I believe that Satan will vent his hatred of Christians through various diabolical means upon America, before he deploys his demonic-minions for his ultimate Final Solution upon Israel during the Tribulation.

But in the interim, the terms of the "Road Map" plan already embody the unspoken matter of allowing or blinking at the expected non-compliance by the Arab Palestinians, as occurred flagrantly under the Oslo Accords. The words of "responsibility" will be in the Plan, but only Israel will be expected to comply. Every breach on the part of the Arab Palestinians and their Arab nation supporters will be ignored and relegated to useless discussion within the United Nations. After the Oslo Accords were signed in 1991, the U.S. Congress passed a law requiring the U.S. State Department to report on the compliance of the Palestinian Authority in order to receive American aid. The PLO never passed the test. With the roadmap, the US no longer is the compliance officer. Compliance by the Arab Palestinians is a virtual non-starter if the when ¾ of the Quartet means that the United Nations, the European Union and Russia are the compliance monitoring mechanisms for judgment. Therefore, the "Road Map" is already shot as far as Israel and America are concerned. Israel's feet will be held to the fire to accept every breach and abrogation of the "Road Map", and to continue the roadmap to a dead-end! I am reminded that the nations who have gathered again to decide the fate of Israel are the very same nations who in some form or fashion in killing the Jews during WWII. Some collaborated by closing their borders to Jews, some by denying visa's, some by pograms, and some by Final Solutions!

The Quartet Roadmap has successfully sidelined the US as the primary peace broker in the Middle East, and basically serves to elevate the EU and the UN to equal parity in the geo-political struggle for world supremacy. Someday, the strong US support for Israel will not even be a factor in the process. That geo-political reality will not be good for Israel. This eventuality is foreseen in Bible Prophecy. How long have we anticipated the demise of America and the rise of the EU/UN in regards to the Middle East peace process? The logistical conspiracy of the Antichrist is already emerging on the world stage as the EU begins considering the prospect of selecting a Super-President! The Quartet, unlike the US could care less about Israel's needs. It has adopted a timetable for recognition of a State of Palestine that was geared, not to an end of the threat to Israel, but to a predetermined self-serving calendar. The Israelis will be obliged from the first step taken down the peace roadmap to make tangible and possibly irreversible steps. For example, they must pull out of forward defensive positions in Palestinian areas, and stop further growth of settlements. In short, the “road map” for Mid-east peace offered up by the Quartet appears more likely to prove out to be nothing more than a “road trap” for Israel”, and a trap for President Bush, and for America in the long run. The Rapture for Christians is ominously nearer than ever before. This peace roadmap is a map to a dead-end, because it is a political prescription for war. Someday, as America further fades (perhaps as a result of the Rapture) from its position as Israel's political benefactor for peace with security, Israel will be compelled to find peace and security in this world with a Deceiver. Then, Israel will begin the roadmap with Hell. Even so, Come Lord Jesus, and build up the glory of Zion! But while we watch and wait, let us pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
